Eldership Covenant

From the Elders of Harvest Christian Church

As the elders of this congregation, having received and answered the call of God to lead and serve this body of believers, we are committed to shepherd this flock with all our heart. We have committed ourselves to the pastoral care of the members of the Harvest church family. In doing so, we commit ourselves to God and to the members of this church to do the following:

  1. The practice and proclamation of Biblical Christianity. We believe these to be the foundational doctrines of the faith.
  • The inspiration of the Bible – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living,…
  • The virgin birth of Jesus Christ – Matthew 1:23 – Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel; which is, being interpreted, God with us.
  • The Sinless life of Jesus Christ and the atonement of His death – Hebrews 9:26 – Instead, now when all ages of time are nearing the end, he has appeared once and for all, to remove sin through the sacrifice of himself.
  • The literal physical resurrection of Jesus Christ – Romans 1:2-4 – It is about his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ: as to his humanity, he was born a descendant of David; as to his divine holiness, he was shown with great power to be the Son of God by being raised from death.
  • The literal physical Second Coming of Jesus – Acts 1:11 – Galileans, why are you standing there looking up at the sky? This Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way that you saw him go to heaven.
  1. An accountable commitment to your spiritual growth through:
  • Exciting Worship – Both corporately and personally
  • Intentional Discipleship – In community, through education, discipleship, accountability and service. We will do this through:
    • Formalized small groups
    • Support of informal small groups
    • Sunday School education options
    • Regular and intentional encouragement of service
  1. A personal commitment to your Pastoral Care. John 10:4 – When he has brought them out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.

The elders of this church commit themselves to provide excellent pastoral care for this flock. As such they commit themselves to:

  1. Know the flock personally.
  2. Protect the flock carefully.
  3. Minister to the flock faithfully.
