Harvest Christian Church Mission/Purpose Statement

We exist in order to bring individuals into a fulfilling relationship with God and their fellow man by helping them discover their potential for holistic living, through exciting worship, supportive small groups and meaningful service.

Harvest is about relationships. It is not primarily about doctrine, denomination, tradition, music, etc. It is about relationships. But it is not enough for us to be right with God or for us to be right with our fellow man. We believe that God has the power to change lives and relationships between man and his creator God and between man and his fellow man.

Our goal is to see the whole person, the whole life reshaped into what God wants. Jesus called this abundant living. We are not interested in seeing one ‘religious’ corner of our lives changed, but the whole person being made whole.

That holistic life is made possible by living out three experiences. The first is exciting worship. Exciting worship is worship in which God is the focus and in which He interacts with us. That worship may be upbeat and contemporary or it may be silent and ancient; what makes worship exciting is that God is there. Our goal is for all of our worship time to be this kind of time.

Second, we try to help everyone get into a supportive small group. No one is complete if they are alone. We want every person at Harvest to have access to a group of people who will love and support them in all circumstances.

Third, we celebrate meaningful service. If a person believes that it is all about them they will end up in misery. In one of the great ironies of life we learn that to be fulfilled we must give ourselves away. Service helps us experience that fulfillment and reminds us that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves. By giving away our lives we discover real living.
